Please keep him and your family in your prayers. Especially his brother, who lives with us fulltime and is really taking this hard. Sevier County (WVLT) - An accident in Sevier County Thursday morning took the life of a high school freshman.

A car struck him as he was walking to meet a friend at the bus stop.

A lot of people along Jones Cove Road say it's a dangerous road.

It is indeed tragic for this family as this young man lost his mother in a car wreck about five miles down the road just over a year ago.

According to a THP report, it was 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning when 15-year-old Jesse Shane Norrell was struck by a 1994 Geo driven by 22-year-old Joshua Stuart of Newport on that road and was dead on the scene.

"Hear the screech of the car that hit him and came out to see what it was and he was laying down there," says Joshua Rolen, who waits for the bus everyday with Norrell.

Rolen lives across the street where the accident happened and next door to Norrell. He says everyday he goes down to meet his bus for Sevier County High School while Norrell meets another friend down the road to go to Gatlinburg-Pittman.

"He used to say how he liked school and he was a very good kid and you know, rambunctious," Rolen says.

"My daughter has to get on the bus crossing the street and people just fly up and down through here," says Debbie Longmire.

Some people along Jones Cove say they're not surprised something like this has happened. Longmire says many people have called authorities on cars traveling fast through the area.

"There's something that needs to be done about the people speeding up and down through here," Longmire says.

For Joshua Rolen, he knows he now has to be extra careful of what can happen waiting on the bus.

"Me and him stand right next to each other and when you think about it, that could have been me and that's just scary," Rolen says.

Officials with the Sevier County School System say a team of counselors was sent to Gatlinburg Pittman High School and two feeder schools Thursday morning to provide grief counseling.

They say the six week exams have been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.

Everything about this is so sad. Hopefully, they will all find peace and comfort from the Holy Spirit. 

Jesse will be well taken care of and reunited with his Mother, but how trying for the rest of the family and friends.

It is very tragic. Yesterday seemed to be a very tragic day across the country. We just never know how suddenly our lives can change forever. How can the world live without the Holy Spirit to comfort us?

Liz, I think BV is working again if you want to try it out.

Red, I meant he would be reunited with his mother in the next phase of life. I simply do not believe that death is a finish, but a new and different beginning.

It is the brother who is left who will have such a difficult time.
